Designed for rain and windproof warmth, the Jackson Glacier Parka is built with 100% recycled polyester that supports First Mile—a people-focused initiative that offers an income source for plastic bottle waste collection networks in low-income communities. It combines technical elements with a casual style that keeps you warm, dry and comfortable on the daily. Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory.

Specs & Features:

• Shell is made of waterproof/breathable/wind-resistant H2No® Performance Standard 2-layer 100% recycled polyester plain weave that supports First Mile—a people-focused initiative that offers an income source for plastic bottle waste collection networks in low-income communities; lining is 100% recycled polyester taffeta

• Shell and lining are treated with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish made without perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs/PFAS) to shed light moisture

• Insulated with toasty 700-fill-power 100% Recycled Down (duck and goose down reclaimed from down products); baffle channels are taped to the shell to prevent down from shifting, which eliminates “cold spots” in the parka

• Two-way, center-front zipper has a zipper garage at the chin for comfort, a wind flap and snap closures

• Insulated, fixed hood with hidden drawcords that cinch down for protective warmth, and internal storm cuffs lock out the cold

• On-seam handwarmer pockets have a soft, brushed tricot lining; an internal zippered pocket secures your phone and other necessities

Polyester also blends well with natural fabrics like cotton. But virgin polyester is derived from petroleum, which comes at a high environmental cost.

Fluorinated DWR

Fluorinated DWR finish is a functional chemical coating containing PFCs (short for perfluorocarbons) that the outdoor industry has long relied on to make garments water-resistant. But, they’re nonbiodegradable chemicals with an environmental cost. PFCs are extremely effective at repelling water, but because of their impact, Patagonia is in the process of making all of their membranes and water-repellent finishes without PFCs or PFAS by 2025.

Made without PFAS / PFC

Water repellency doesn’t just keep you comfortable, it keeps you alive. But for decades now, the coatings used in apparel to improve water-repellency have relied on per- or polyfluorinated chemicals, which contain fluorine and are most often referred to by their acronyms: PFCs, PFOAs or PFAS. This class of “forever chemicals” accumulates in air, water, food and even our bodies, and they raise serious health concerns, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Patagonia is converting all of their durable water-repellent membranes and finishes to non-fluorinated alternatives by 2025.
