Designed to complement a rider's natural movement, our Storm Shift Jacket is built of 2-layer GORE-TEX fabric for waterproof storm protection in all conditions, with a unique liner for a dose of wicking warmth and snag-free layering. Fabric, membrane and DWR finish are made without perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs/PFAS). Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory.

Specs & Features:

• Tough, 100% recycled 2-layer GORE-TEX shell fabric is waterproof and breathable, with a body-mapped zigzag fleece lining to manage moisture; fabric, membrane and DWR finish are made without perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs/PFAS)

• Adjustable, helmet-compatible, fixed hood with a laminated visor preserves visibility, and a tall collar protects your neck and face, even with the hood down

• Drawcord on the hem exits into handwarmer pockets for easy adjustment that's protected from weather

• Pit zips with coated, waterproof zippers quickly release heat; low-profile cuffs secure over or under gloves

• Adjustable powder skirt can be cinched for a tight seal or lies flat when not in use; a webbing loop at the center back connects to any Patagonia® Snow pants

• Two zippered handwarmer pockets, one zippered chest pocket and one zippered forearm pocket on the exterior; one zippered pocket and one drop-in pocket on the interior; zippers are coated and waterproof

Polyester also blends well with natural fabrics like cotton. But virgin polyester is derived from petroleum, which comes at a high environmental cost.

Fluorinated DWR

Fluorinated DWR finish is a functional chemical coating containing PFCs (short for perfluorocarbons) that the outdoor industry has long relied on to make garments water-resistant. But, they’re nonbiodegradable chemicals with an environmental cost. PFCs are extremely effective at repelling water, but because of their impact, Patagonia is in the process of making all of their membranes and water-repellent finishes without PFCs or PFAS by 2025.

Made without PFAS / PFC

Water repellency doesn’t just keep you comfortable, it keeps you alive. But for decades now, the coatings used in apparel to improve water-repellency have relied on per- or polyfluorinated chemicals, which contain fluorine and are most often referred to by their acronyms: PFCs, PFOAs or PFAS. This class of “forever chemicals” accumulates in air, water, food and even our bodies, and they raise serious health concerns, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Patagonia is converting all of their durable water-repellent membranes and finishes to non-fluorinated alternatives by 2025.
